Teaching
My teaching is guided by two principles: build foundations students can carry beyond the classroom and design learning appropriate to students’ stage of development.
For early-stage students, I emphasize structured opportunities to build foundational skills and work through unfamiliar problems. For more advanced students, I provide greater room for interpretation, judgment, and the defense of evidence-based decisions while maintaining clear expectations and milestones.
My professional experience in events, hospitality, and business informs the problems students encounter in class, while my research training helps students move from information toward analysis, interpretation, and defensible decision-making.
Teaching Experience
THM 3396 · Marketing in Tourism & Hospitality Management
Instructor of Record · Writing-Intensive Course · Student Evaluation: 4.35 / 5
I used cases, discussion, and a semester marketing proposal to ask students to evaluate problems from multiple customer, organizational, and stakeholder perspectives. Students were expected not only to make recommendations, but also to justify why those recommendations were defensible.
STHM 1115 · Foundations of Excel for Sport and Tourism
Instructor of Record · Student Evaluation: 4.55 / 5
I organized the course around how data are used in practice: cleaning and organizing information, analyzing it, interpreting results, and communicating findings. Excel functions therefore became tools for accomplishing larger analytical tasks rather than isolated commands to memorize.
